Wellness at Bronte

Set along an elevated coastal road overlooking Bronte, this private residence was reimagined to incorporate a dedicated wellness retreat beneath the existing home. Commissioned by a discerning private client, the brief called for a highly considered space that would support daily fitness and recovery while reflecting the calm, refined character of its coastal setting.

To realise this vision, the project involved the careful excavation of solid stone beneath the property, creating an entirely new lower level carved into the site. Within this newly claimed volume, we designed a comprehensive wellness suite including a full-service gym equipped for strength training, Pilates, cycling and treadmill workouts. A sauna and adjoining bathroom provide spaces for recovery and relaxation, while a discreet lift connection allows seamless movement between the wellness level and the floors above.

The interior palette draws inspiration from the surrounding coastal landscape, pairing natural textures and restrained tones with crafted details. Custom-designed joinery integrates equipment and storage, ensuring the space remains both highly functional and visually calm. Advanced technology was also incorporated, including ambient temperature control and a large AV screen for guided workouts and immersive media.

The result is a private wellness sanctuary that balances performance with atmosphere and acts as a considered extension of the home that supports the client’s lifestyle while maintaining the quiet sophistication of a bespoke residential interior.
