Executive Office

North Sydney
Executive Office

Luxe nautical references have inspired Hammond’s design vision for this executive office overlooking the Sydney Harbour from North Sydney. Think richly lacquered timbers and salt-sprayed sails: for this project Hammond has interpreted the colours, tones and lifestyle of classic 1960s Italian watercraft in an entirely modern way – and for a modern mode of working. The location in an A-grade Dexus building at 100 Mount Street North Sydney, encompasses sweeping views out to the south-east of Sydney city and the harbour – both a premium office setting and destination for its prestigious clientele.

Hospitality and enabling authentic connections are core to the client’s business and work culture, and Hammond’s design responds to this with a refined front-of-house experience and cleverly concealed back-of-house services.

The office’s two main zones are divided out for meeting rooms, and general workstations. Hammond’s use of walnut timber speaks strongly to the original design vision and can be found throughout the working and client meeting zones including the staff kitchen. A special detail is the Tirar walnut door hardware – a frequent touchpoint and attention to detail that reveals Hammond’s passion for holistic, quality design.

The business’ two directors share an L-shaped office that faces out to Sydney Harbour, their respective desks separated by a central boardroom table which doubles as a private dining table.

Other dedicated amenities include a private bar area, commercial kitchen and dining room. Meanwhile the boardroom with its custom round cedar timber table (specifically sourced for this furniture piece) is host to daily meetings and private dining functions.

With the focus firmly on front-of-house presentation and a premium brand experience, Hammond has designed the back-of-house areas to conceal all the services and provide plentiful storage.

Highly finessed and richly detailed, the interior architectural scheme cleverly drops into the background as the client’s impressive art collection comes to the fore. This, including work by Indigenous Australian and Asia artists, brings added vibrance and sophistication to functional spaces, such as the main hallways, and office and meeting zones.
