285 George

An address of distinction

‘Five floors, five decades of men’s fashion’, the narrative used for five individual boutique offices within the ‘The Peapes Building’. Named after the original occupant ‘Peapes & Co’ menswear, who commissioned and occupied the landmark George Street building in the 1900s for fifty years. Each floor is influenced by the fashion of the decades, being the most formal on level 2, through to shades of denim blues on level 5, and a light smart casual palette on level 6. Our approach was to design elegant timeless fitouts, to attract the best commercial tenants.

Fashion fades style is eternal.” – Yves Saint Laurent

As specialists of contemporary workplace within heritage buildings, Hammond Studio were engaged to design five boutique single floor speculative fitouts for property developer Brookfield, for small-medium size businesses seeking a premium ‘George Street’ front door address with access to all the amenity the larger Brookfield Place precinct has to offer. With all tenancies being leased before completion of fitouts, the project has already been a success.

Impressively defined by its heritage facade and proudly located within the new Brookfield Place Sydney precinct, the entirely transformed Peapes Building will benefit from all the amenities and services of a major precinct and yet retain the character and ambience of a signature, boutique office space.

Designed by award-winning Hammond Studio, the interior of the Peapes Building offers a contemporary and highly functional transformation of a heritage building.” – Brookfield
